Fruit Loop Coupons

Kellogg’s introduced Froot Loops in 1963, along with the fruit-flavored cereal’s mascot of Toucan Sam. The colorful bird appears on the boxes of cereal, which is sold in the United States, as well as in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The name is a misspelling of the word Fruit Loops, but the two “o” characters in Froot mimic the shape of the cereal.

Kellogg’s is very protective of its mascot, and even filed a trademark lawsuit against a nonprofit organization that also used a toucan in its logo. The Maya Archaeology Initiative reached an out-of-court settlement with Kellogg’s over the use of the logo, which looked somewhat similar to Toucan Sam but was based on a drawing of a Guatemalan and Mexican variety of toucan.

Froot Loops is available in its original formulation, as well as Froot Loops Marshmallow cereal with marshmallow pieces. Froot Loops has permeated pop culture, and even made its way into politics as an insult to someone’s intelligence. British chef Jamie Oliver called former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin a “Froot Loop” in February 2011 for her critical comments on healthy-eating programs for children.

One serving of Froot Loops contains 110 calories, and zero grams of trans fat. The sweetened cereal also delivers three grams of fiber and one gram of protein. One serving of Froot Loops Marshmallow also contains 110 calories, and the same amount of fiber, protein and trans fat as original Froot Loops. Both varieties of the cereal are made with whole grains.
